Atelier North was founded in 2014 by Clara Ng, after several years working at a larger commercial practice she describes as more focused on how a space looked in photographs than how it felt to live in day to day. The studio has since built a name for residential work defined by warm, tightly edited material palettes and joinery that quietly does more than one job.
The practice is small by design. Ng and design director Marcus Tan run every project together rather than splitting the studio into separate teams, which they say keeps a consistent hand across jobs that range from compact HDB flats to full condominium renovations.
